Although Chase Anthony has just begun his teenage years, he has become one of the most accomplished big game hunters in the world. He recently came back from his third African safari where he was able to harvest an Elephant, Hippo, Crocodile, and Leopard, completing the remainder of his Big 5 and Serious 7 as well as setting a record for being the youngest hunter to ever do so. After such a big accomplishment some might ask how he plans to top it. Well, this kid has an answer to that question. He has set his sights on SCI’s North American 29, an impressive list of big game animals. His goal is something only master hunters achieve, but he knows he has what it takes and he plans on doing it while still a teenager. In fact, he just got home from his first NA29 hunt in Texas where he was able to collect an Aoudad and was lucky enough to successfully hunt the evasive Mountain Lion.

Growing up in rural Michigan, Chase has been exposed to hunting from the very start. If you have ever been lucky enough to drive through the “thumb” of Michigan in November you have probably witnessed the popularity of opening day with it’s hunters’ orange, bucks tied to the tops of cars, white-tails hanging up at nearly every house, and the numerous venison-processing operations in the area. Hunting is prevalent to say the least. So it was quite natural for Chase, at the age of 6, to harvest an 8-point on opening day with his dad.

Chase started guiding field hunts in elementary school at the family pheasant hunting preserve, taking grown men out in the field in search of the hard-flying roosters. He drew his first New Mexico elk tag at age 7, went on his first African Safari at 10, killed his first stag in Patagonia at 12, and a leopard in Zambia at the age of 12. He started his NA29 quest at 13 and has already harvested 4 of the 29.

While Chase is incredibly passionate about hunting, he has begun to understand the importance of animal conservation. He was moved by his time in Africa, witnessing the hardships of the native people, observing the prevalence and destructive nature of poaching, and appreciating the meals each harvested animal provided to the local communities.
As Chase begins the massive undertaking that is the NA29, he begins with the future in mind. He hopes that he can inspire other people through his quest, namely other youth. He wants to make sure that hunting remains an option in this ever changing world and wants to see more youth get educated and involved to help protect wildlife for future generations. He has been documenting each hunt through pictures, videos, and field journals with intent to follow in the footsteps of accomplished big game hunters and conservationists like Craig Boddington and Jim Shockey.
